Earthquake in Japan
I came in to work this morning and a co-worker of mine informed me that an 8.9 earthquake had hit Japan a few hours earlier, the 5th biggest earthquake in the world in the past 100 years. As many of you know, I have family and also many friends from my mission in Japan. I was worried for their safety and well being. However, the earthquake hit several hundred miles from where I served my mission, and over 1000 miles away from Okinawa, where my family lives. I was relieved, but after watching the NHK new clips, my heart ached for those that were killed or affected by this tragedy. This is one of the most terrible things I have seen in my life time, my prayers go out to anyone who has been affected by this.

I guess you guys were probably asleep when the earthquake hit. We were up all night monitoring/waiting for a tsunami to hit here. Luckily, nothing severe at all. Another year with another tsunami warning and not much action. It is so sad. Especially for those who still have loved ones missing in the affected areas. Glad your nihonjin family is safe! Sidebar: Is your mom Okinawan, or does her family just live there now? Just wondering. The distinction between Okinawan and Japanese is a big deal here in Hawaii. My Mom's family is Uchinanchu (Okinawan). :)
