First trip to the ER - September 2014

Koby is our first child that we have had to take to the ER; with three boys it was bound to happen sooner or later..

The day before our Emergency Room visit looked like this...

James took Koby and his friend Kennedy Taylor to Diseyland to go on all the rides that the little kids can't go on. They had so much fun. Carolyn Taylor and I took the little kids and met up with them later in the afternoon. It was a ridiculously hot day and apparently we did not do the best at reminding Koby to drink lots of water.

The next day he went to school. When I went to pick him up from school that afternoon he began complaining that his side hurt. He said that he had gotten hit at recess so I assumed that was the cause of his pain. Later that evening, Koby started throwing up - a lot. He didn't have a fever, and was complaining that his side (appendix area) was hurting. One of the Resident Doctors that lives in our building said we needed to take him in to the ER.

We took him in. It was an long, not-fun-at-all visit which included Koby throwing up all over my feet! We initially thought he had appendicitis, but after a few ultrasounds, an IV, and a CT scan it was concluded that Koby had been dehydrated. Poor little guy.

We discovered that LA is hot and we need to make the kids drink lots and lots of water when we are out in the sun. I also learned that it is better to tell your child when he is getting a needle poked in his veins instead of attempting it while he sleeps-whoops!

Poor  James was so exhausted from his busy week at school:

Here is the rest of September summed up by pictures of these cuties...

Disneyland

September 2014:

We are so blessed to have Disneyland passes this year! We live about 45 minutes away from the magical place and have been there a lot in the past 5 months.

Driving to Disneyland for the first time!

It's a Small World is always a favorite.

This is always what the ride home looks like, haha...

Kai's first time to Disneyland

Linc was so happy to meet Lightening McQueen!

One time we went with the Taylor's. Carolyn and I decided it would be a good idea to take our kids on the Tower of Terror. During the ride (see picture...) Koby didn't know if he should be scared or excited. After the ride he claimed it was his favorite ride ever! Kennedy and Tatum were a little scared. We may have scarred Tatum for a few years.

James took Kennedy and Koby to Disneyland one morning to ride all the big rides that the little ones aren't tall enough for.
We love Disneyland!

Baby Isla

September also brought us a new little neice! We were so excited to meet Dave and Lisa's sweet baby girl. We have been loving living by our new cousin/niece. She is a happy baby and so beautiful, just like her mom!

Meet Isla...

We sure love her.

Linc's Big Month

September was a big month for Linc. He started "school" too! We started out doing joyschool with some ladies in another ward. However, both Linc and I didn't enjoy it. The group dynamics were just not working for us. About a month in we decided to switch to a "playgroup preschool" with 8 other kids in our complex.

There are 8 boys and 1 girl in our group, including Linc. It is cray but oh so fun! Linc has made so many new friends and so have I. Each week the kids learn a new letter and a new color/shape/letter.  And after preschool is done we all head down to the nearest park in the complex for lunch and play. IT is just the right amount of learning and playing for this little three year old.

Like I said, September was a big month for Linc. He started school, met tons of new friends, started eating new foods, adjusted to a new surrounding, became completely potty-trained, and he lost his first tooth! Haha. I guess when you have three boys it just happens. Earlier this summer Linc bumped heads on Grandma and Grandpa's trampoline...two months later his tooth finally decided it just wasn't going to stay.

Koby was pretty excited that Linc lost a tooth and even wrote the tooth fairy a letter to go along with the tooth.

James also started school in September! Our long wait finally ended. James loves school and I am so happy that he gets to do something he loves. I even took a picture to commemorate the special day...

Here he is on a hike, "networking" of course. haha.
September was a big month for these two!
