Hubert Cumberdale... Fancy Seeing You Here

So, I had surgery on my left shoulder on Wednesday morning.  I had to be at the hospital at 5:30am, 5:30am!  Why would they schedule anything for that early?  Anyway, since I didn't want to have Megan and the boys wake up at 4:30am to take me, I stayed at Lisa and Dave's place the night before.  We stayed up till almost midnight talking, laughing, and watching Youtube videos.  One series of videos I was introduced to was Salad Fingers.  The videos were very disturbing, yet strangely humorous.  After watching those videos, I went to bed.

The next morning Dave took me to the hospital.  Everything went well, but when I came out of surgery my head was a little messed up because of the anesthesia.  All I could think about was ol' Salad Fingers and him saying, "Hubert Cumberdale... Fancy seeing you here," and then singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow.  Needless to say, it freaked me out.  Click here if you want to see what was playing through my mind.

The Anti-Depressant...

Sunshine. March weather rocks! Our weekend consisted of car washing, park playing, nightly walks, bike rides, races, bubbles, sidewalk chalk and a family run. It is amazing what a little sunshine can do to your spirits. I think it makes me high- I've been painting, re-arranging rooms, washing windows...etc.

Today was yet another nice day. The boys and I weeded outside. It is so exciting to have a yard to fix up. I really enjoy gardening with my little helpers... aside from Koby shoving worms in my face and Lincoln eating dirt and chewing on rocks.

It's hard to believe it where the time goes. Lincoln is 9 1/2 months! He has become very interactive lately-he raises his arms when James tells him to, even when it is followed by a tickle each time. Linc is constantly walking around the perimeter of the room holding onto things and he has taken 3 steps twice this week! Hopefully he will be walking early like Koby. That would make summer great! The little guy has also begun to say Mama. Well its more like, "Mumuma," but he knows who Mumuma is:) We are still working on Daddy though. His top left tooth poked out last week and his top right one is close behind. This of course means he is a biting machine....you name it, he bites it. He especially loves to race over and gnaw on toes...watch out, it hurts!

Look at this pretty baby!!
This week Koby decided he wants to be on the show Wipeout when he is grown up. He also wants to marry grandma and grandpa, be a cave jumper, and have 5 kids- one of which will be named "Face"...what a lucky kid:)

Koby was a very photogenic baby. A three year old?  Well, lets just say it takes a lot of tries to get a good picture...

Its been a real good week. Please be here to stay Mr. Sun.

Today, I am a little depressed...

I remember a time when we were living in Okinawa, I was at Shaky's Pizza with my family enjoying some great corn and tuna pizza (the Japanese have some strange pizza flavors).  My family had decided to move back to California.  I had recently really gotten into football and ask my parents if there were any football leagues for kids in the U.S.  To my excitement my dad told me there was and I told him I wanted to play.  For the next several months, I was so excited.  I couldn't wait to start playing this sport that I had started to love.

When the NFL season started that year, back in 1996, the first game I watched was an Indianapolis Colts game.  I don't remember who they were playing, but what I do remember is being captivated by then rookie running back Marshall Faulk's amazing moves, being in awe of Marvin Harrison's acrobatic catches and Jim Harbaugh's insane passes.  I decided that day that the Colts were my favorite team.  I still have my Marshall Faulk jersey that I will break out from time to time.  The one thing I didn't know that day when I chose my favorite football team is, the Indianapolis Colts actually weren't all that great.  In fact the next season the sucked so bad that they got the first pick in the 1998 NFL draft, but that pick would change the perennial doormat of an NFL franchise into a Superbowl contender year after year for the next 14 years of my life.

Since 1998, the first pick in that year's draft, Peyton Manning has go on to set numerous records.  He has won four MVP awards.  He has taken the Colts to two Superbowls and won one.  It has been fun to watch and I have become a huge Peyton Manning fan.  Even Koby has become a Colts fan (his blanket on his bed is a Colts one that Megan made, and one of his favorite toys is a Peyton Manning action figure).

Last season Peyton Manning was injured and sat out the entire year.  I watched every game of the Manning-less colts season.  Without Peyton, the Colts again slipped to being the doormat and laughing stock of the NFL.  It was pretty depressing, but at least there's always next year right?  Peyton will be back and the Colts will be Superbowl contenders again right?  Wrong.

Today the Colts will announce that they are releasing.  Even though this been speculated by all the sports writers and seemed inevitable, now that it is really happening, it makes me a little depressed.  It would have been nice to see Peyton Manning finish his career with the Colts, but I guess that's life.  So, from this one little Colts fan to arguably one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time, thanks for the good times and good luck where ever you land.  I am sure I will find myself rooting for the team that picks you up.

If it ends up being a team out here is the west, I am sure I will find an excuse to road trip to a game :)

Good Morning

This week, the award for the worst little sleepers ever goes to...

We have early risers and there's nothing we can do about it. Black out blinds? They don't even have a chance to work since our kids are up before the sun!

 Mon. 5:30 Linc/6:00 Koby
Tues. 4:30 Koby (Finally got Koby back to sleep at 6:10 and then...)/6:20 Linc
Wed. 5:40 Koby/6:00 Linc
Thurs. 5:45 Koby/6:15 Linc
Fri. 6:15 Koby/6:20 Linc
Sat. 6:20 Koby/ 6:30 Linc

Throw in a 4:30 am feeding for Lincoln, a few "I need to go potty"s from Koby, and James and I going to bed at midnight all week..Anyone jealous?? I forgot to mention the fact that Koby is not afraid of his child lock anymore so when he wakes up he comes into our room and jumps on top of us in bed..."I waked up. I'm not so tired anymore!"

At least they've slept in til after 6 the last couple days! The blinds in our house are open at least 2 hours before all the neighbors. (With exception of a few neighbors who never open their blinds-how do these people live? I need light. Kids need light).

They wake up happy and bouncing off the walls every morning:)

Just watching the cars.
Linc loves to look down at the dog next door.

Good thing we love them so much!
