Happy Halloween

This Halloween we wanted to dress up and incorporate the soon to be addition to our family. However we were having some trouble coming up with any good ideas. All the ideas online we kind of retarded. They most involved painting Megan's stomach something "super creative" like a basketball. We came up with the idea of dressing up as Juno and Bleeker, although I wasn't too comfortable with the idea of wearing short shorts. No one should ever be exposed to that much of my thighs. But believe it or not, it was quite liberating... I am just playing, I just felt awkward the whole time, but it was fun none the less.

Thursday night we went to my work Halloween party out at a cabin in midway. The place was sweet. We played games and hung out with a bunch of people from my work. It was a good time.

Tonight we went to our ward Halloween party. It ended up being a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I would have to say that our bishop and his wife's costumes were the best there. Megan was extra happy when we took this picture.

There was a costume contest too, but we didn't win, although I think we should have. I just don't think that many people in our ward saw the movie.

Anyway, there was a doughnut eating contest too. Too bad I sucked at that and had to cheat so I didn't come in last place.

All in all, it was a pretty fun Halloween. It was the first time I dressed up since I was 10. Maybe we will do it again next year.

Monday night fun!

For FHE we made eyeballs and brains!

Don't they look tasty! Tastiest brains and eyeballs I've ever had.

We set the mood with some Halloween music. You know the classics... Monster Mash, Ghostbusters, Purple People Eater, etc. James introduced me to some Nightmare before Christmas...This is Halloween and of course our new favorite Oogie Boogie Man.

Then we delivered them to some neighbors. Although we didn't carve pumpkins this year cupcake making was just as fun!

And of course here is a picture of James being James...

This weekend...

Friday night Rach and I went to High School Musical 3! So good. haha. James went to a movie all by himself. He missed out.

On Saturday James and I hiked the Y. Man that was painful. So painful that Monday I decided to skip a class and go while James was at work. Haha- never again. James played goalie the whole time in his soccer game on Saturday and man did he do good! They won, of course. I think Rachel and James' bodies forgot about the marathon because they are already running again getting ready for the one in May.

Sunday we went to Scott and Crystals and made Caramel Apples - they taste just like the Rocky Mountain kind, unlike the ones James and I attempted to make last year at our house!

Baby Update:

This Thursday is week 28! He has been moving a lot since about week 20, but this week he is especially active. Last night I swear he was doing barrel rolls inside of me. It is the weirdest feeling. I can feel kicks on both sides of my body at the same time - it is crazy. My belly button is completely flat- I look like a frog. And I am pretty sure he is sitting on my bladder because 3 times an hour is just not normal ... I don't think I drink enough for that!

Viva Las Vegas

After the marathon we headed down to Vegas! I had never been to Vegas before... I guess I have not been missing out on much. I did like how even McDonald's had a light-up sign. Other than that it was really dirty and smelt like cigarettes. We walked through some casinos and got to see some pole dancers that was quite exciting! haha. The most fun I think was the toy store (You can see James enjoyed the puppets).

The Bellagio water show was really cool too! The water played to "Luck be a lady tonight".

There was one guy preaching on the strip about Vegas being a "fallen city"... It kinda reminded me of prophets in the scriptures haha.

Overall, it was a good experience, but unless I take up strippin and gamblin I don't have a desire to go back.

Here is a video of Rachel and James walking down stairs after the marathon. Haha we must have been a site- a pregnant chick and two gimps. Sorry it is sideways I didn't know what I was doing.

Did you know...

The word marathon comes from the legend of Pheidippides, a Greek messenger. The legend states that he was sent from the town of Marathon to Athens to announce that the Persians had been defeated in the Battle of Marathon. It is said that he ran the entire distance without stopping and burst into the assembly, exclaiming "Νενικήκαμεν" (Nenikékamen, 'We have won.') before collapsing and dying.

The man DIED! He died and now it is a sporting event that people do for fun. Fun?! Ha, if feeling like your thighs are going to explode, every step you take is a knife in the calf, your feet feeling like they are bruised, nipples bleeding, thighs chaffing, and not being able to walk for a few days after is fun, then yes... it was a blast. Well, at least my nipples didn't bleed. But as you can see in this picture, that guy's did. (I am behind the lady in pink).

Aside from the wind and the rain, I was actually ok for the first 20 miles, but then my iPod died, and then I died. Every mile felt like 5 after that. I got passed by an 85 year old man wearing an American flag speedo. I just thought to myself, "I'm sure he has done this before, I just need to keep running." Towards the end there was a lady hold a sign that said, "Only 7 more blocks to go!" I wanted to punch her in the face. Those were the longest seven blocks of my life. But when I turned the corner and saw the finish line, I got a little boost of energy. Then I saw Megan cheering for me, which was not what I was expecting being that that morning when I woke up, she was laughing at me telling me that I was going to die or something like that.

Well, in the end my time was 3hrs and 55min. My goal was to make it under 4 hrs and never stop running, which I was able to do. Aside from my short bathroom break, which I think made things worse.

Megan, my sister-in-law Rachel, and I went to Vegas afterwards. I looked like a retarded Frankenstein walking around the strip. I couldn't get into our car, I had to fall into it. I don't think I have ever been in that much pain.

I still don't understand why people run those things. I think they are slightly masochistic. I think everyone that runs them for fun are out of their minds.

On that note, I think I am going to sign up to run in the Ogden Marathon in May and the St. George again next year.

Update

Maternity clothes suck. Someone needs to start a stylish maternity line. James and I went to motherhood maternity last week - I am finally out growing regular shirts so we thought it must be time to get some maternity tops. I tried on the smallest shirts and looked pretty ridiculous. So I still do not have any maternity clothes. Luckily right now those long tunic-like shirts are in. Ill be wearing those now. If anyone knows where to get cute maternity clothes let me know!

On Monday, Dehn and Catherine invited us to go to their bishop's peach orchard. They are done picking for the season and have millions of peaches for people to pick. We picked a billion PERFECT peaches. Yesterday Catherine and I made peach jam. Yum! Well I haven't tried it, but it should be good. We made like 30 or 40 containers! Also, I made peach cobbler/crisp. I know its not hard and I'm sure anyone can make it, but let me just say I make a mean peach crisp.

James and I have become pretty domestic lately. Not only am I pretty good with peaches, but James ground wheat for about an hour on Sunday and we made some good (very wheaty) cinnamon rolls. They have been breakfast all week because Rachel and James are carb loading for the St. George Marathon on Saturday!! Woohoo.

They are both crazy...26 straight miles. Last Saturday, after just 3 1/2 hours of sleep, James got up and ran 20 miles on a treadmill! Then he went and played football with his friends, then to work-on his feet all day, and then right to his soccer game! We leave tomorrow for St. George and then Saturday we are going to Vegas! I have never been. Rach and James will probably be dead, but it should be fun.

I'll post pictures when we get back on Sunday.

This week James started his new job... the hours are great! and it will look so good on his MBA resume. Although he really misses the people at Buckle, he really likes this job.
Last week we got our crib! I was so excited I put it together while James was at work. And with the exception of a very stubborn screw, did the whole thing! James' request... we have been getting cute sports-themed stuff. We are getting so ready for him to come. .. Today I had a 24 week appointment. 16 more weeks to go. Time is flying by already. The baby is healthy! I'm fat, but still healthy!

Here's our rearranged room... We are going to be squished for a bit!
