Christmas 2013

Our Christmas season started with this little guy getting extremely sick...

This is the first time in almost five years we have had a kid get a super high (103.8) temperature. Koby's high temperature lasted for days! He pretty much laid on the floor for a week straight. He also lost a good couple pounds because he wasn't able to eat much of anything for a few days. The poor kid looked like a skeleton:( Thankfully, he was pretty much better just in time for Christmas.

While Koby was sick, we had to entertain Linc. I have realized Linc is really going to miss his brother when Koby goes off to Kindergarten next year!

 Luckily James and I never got Koby's illness.  However just a few days before Christmas Linc started acting sick. And lo and behold, got that darn fever too. Luckily his illness was not scary or as intense as Koby's. We just made sure to stay away from people. It sure would have been nice if they had gotten sick at the same time though.

Inspite of Linc's fever, we had a pretty good Christmas. It was low key and a little lonely without our families to celebrate with, but it was a good day.

Aunt Sherry and Uncle Cameron gave us a remote control toy too! James was pretty happy he got to be a kid again too. All three of the boys pretty much spent the day chasing each other with remote control cars and shooting one another with nerf guns.

We got spoiled by family members...

It was a good day. I only wish we were able to share it with family...Next year :)

No matter who you are or what you believe, Christmas is wonderful! Christmas is a holiday that brings us all a little closer to Christ. It is a season of giving and a season of love.

The word gospel means Good news. Jeffrey R. Holland said,

 “The `good news`  was that death and hell could be escaped, that mistakes and sins could be overcome, that there was hope, that there was help, that the insoluble was solved, that the enemy had been conquered. The ‘good news’ was that everyone’s tomb could one day be empty, that everyone’s soul could again be pure, that every child of God could again return to the Father who gave them life.

“This is the essence of the message delivered by every prophet who has ever lived and every apostle ever called to the work. It is the message we are called to declare. It is the message of the angel who came to those unsuspecting Judean shepherds:

“And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

I am finally feeling most of the way better with this pregnancy and now resolve to be a better blogger. I said most of the way better. I can now agree with what I have heard, with each pregnancy you get sicker and sicker; and the sickness lasts longer and longer. I will be 15 weeks on Friday and I am still nauseous! But enough of the whining! This was a couple weeks ago, a healthy baby that is looking more like a baby...

 Christmas is just a week away and we are getting pretty excited over here.  It is our year to celebrate Christmas in Washington and my whole family will be there. However, James' job doesn't allow him to take the holiday off, so once again we will be here in Utah for Christmas. At first I was pretty sad, but I think I have hit that time in life when you realize your family is growing and it isn't always possible to travel, which is an ok thing.

We have really been enjoying December this year. Koby is at the funnest age for holidays. We have been making sugar cookies, making candy count downs, doing Christmas crafts, etc. Koby has really been loving drawing lately...this has made sacrament meetings at church nicer! Here are some cute animals he drew all by himself. They are his "creature powers", if you have ever seen the show "Wild Kratts".

With Grandma and Grandpa Huntington's Christmas money we bought the kids some new snow clothes and they have already been getting their money's worth out of them! Poor James is the lucky one who has been getting to accompany them outside in the freezing cold. Sometimes being pregnant isn't so bad :)

Koby was a cute little drummer boy last week in his Preschool Christmas Program. It was fun watching him perform, but of course our child is the only kid who has to get up and go to the restroom in the middle of it. haha. 

Koby has been earning money by doing chores around the house. (He sure is a pretty good sweeper now). He worked for about 2 weeks and earned his money to buy Linc a present. He was so excited to wrap it and has been asking everyday if he could give it to Linc. James and I remember that our favorite part about Christmas was buying presents for our siblings. So, hopefully this tradition will help the kids develop that same love.

Lincoln has been turning into quite the little boy lately. He has been talking up a storm at home, but only for us of course. He loves to follow Koby around and tries to do whatever his big brother does. He still loves cars, but has been getting into "guys", swords, dragons, and guns...You know, just what little boys love. He especially loves football. James is proud! He sure likes babies too, so hopefully he will adapt well to being a big brother.
