As of late...

Summer really is the best time of the year. We have been so busy doing fun things with friends and family that I forget to blog. However, it is Friday night, 9 pm, and my hard-working husband is still at the office, so I'll use my time wisely :)

We have been hiking up a storm lately. Our boys do awesome, but then again I would probably do awesome too if I was able to get a shoulder ride up a beautiful mountain. Both boys are getting heavy! But that just makes it a more intense workout, which we love. Check out my sweaty back after taking Linc's backpack off...yuck!

Emily came with us the other weekend. We decided to try to make it further up Dry Creek Canyon trail. As you can see we may have bit off a little more than we could chew...we wore our poor kids out. Sweet Koby fell asleep on James' shoulders while we were hiking down!

This last week we have had the great privilege of having James' mom stay with us. It has been fun! She has exercised with me, played with the kids, taken us to the aquarium, etc. She even taught me how to make sushi! It was delish! It will now be a weekly meal for us. Sunday was Father's Day and since his mom was here, lucky James got to have homemade sushi...

Koby was pretty excited about Father's Day this year. James is his idol...

He says he wants to be a "business man builder" when he grows up, which is apparently what he thinks James does. He is also pretty excited because last week he claimed to have started growing hair on his legs haha. He said, "MOM! I'm starting to grow little hairs. I must be turning into a daddy!" He made James a pretty cute card that I want to remember. So here it is...

As you can tell, these two have really been enjoying crafts lately :)

James has been working a lot lately. He is doing well at his job. Therefore he gets more responsibly and longer hours. So the other day I decided I was going to go ahead and teach Koby how to ride his bike without training wheels. Koby picked it up in 2 minutes. I'm so proud :)

I obviously couldn't get a good picture while I was running, but I had to document the memory.

And last, but not least, here is this little cutie...

And a video.

Linc's Birthday

Memorial Day weekend we celebrated Linc's birthday. Since Linc doesn't like being around a lot of people and since he already has lots of toys from his big brother we decided to do something different for his birthday. We started planning a fun trip to Sand Hollow Reservoir and Zion's National Park. Well, being Memorial Day weekend, there were no decently priced hotels available. Both James and I didn't want to pay 90 bucks a night for a pet-friendly Super-8 motel room. Nasty. I'm glad we didnt end up going. I heard both Zion's and Arches were packed.

Anyways, since we had to stay home and since Linc's birthday was on a Sunday, we decided to celebrate all weekend long. Saturday we hit up the Hogle Zoo with our friends, the Munion's. It was the perfect weather and we had a fun time...

On the way home we hit up 7-11 for some slurpees. And then some fancy doughnut shop that James has been raving about for a couple years. When he worked at O.C. Tanner people used to bring these gourmet doughnuts...

If you ask James and Koby they were delicious, if you ask me I'll probably throw up on you just thinking about them. Gross. Apparently you have to like doughnuts in order for these to taste good.

We ended the day by running through the sprinklers topless waving sticks in the air. Not me, just the boys :)

Sunday morning we started spoiling Lincoln bright and early with some sprinkle waffles. Then he opened up a couple presents. What did he get? The movie Cars character cars of course. That's all it takes to make Linc happy :)

Later in the evening, Sherry, Cameron, Karen, and Sean came over to celebrate with us. We all ate some delicious home-made ice cream cake that nearly killed us all. (Linc doesn't really like cake, but he sure likes ice cream and sprinkles)...

Monday the Munion's invited us out to hike Dry Creek Canyon with them. What a beautiful hike.

See the hot air balloon?

Next we headed to the Munion's for a delicious BBQ and some water fun. We used birthday money from the grandparents to buy Linc a water table... He loved it. All the kids loved it.

And that was our fabulous Memorial Day weekend this year. Linc is a sweet little guy and I am sure his "two's" will be just as sweet as he is.

Junior Achievement

So it has been awhile since I contributed to our family blog.  I think for about the past year it has been all Megan.  I am grateful she has kept it up!

Anyway, the past few months I have been fortunate enough to participate in the Junior Achievement program as a mentor/instructor.  The last Wednesday was my last day.  Needless to say, I was really sad.  I have been going to a sixth grade class at an elementary school in downtown Salt Lake City every week to teach the kids about the global marketplace, and talk to them about life, careers, etc.  It has been such a fantastic experience.  I wish I would have discovered this organization a long time ago.  I don't know if there are many things more rewarding than teaching kids.  I don't know how much of an impact I had on those kids I met with every week, but I know they had a significant impact on me.  I really encourage anyone out there that is interested to get involved, it's really an amazing opportunity.
