Daddy, can you play with me?

The past couple week have been rough.  I feel like I have gotten little sleep, and I am sure Megan has gotten even less.  I feel exhausted and on top of that, the last couple days I have been sick.  A few days ago I got home from work really feeling it.  All I wanted to do was sleep.  I sat down on the couch and it felt like I would never get up again.  Not a second after my butt hit the couch cushion Koby came running into the room yelling, "Daddy, can you play with me?"  I made up some excuse and told him I would after dinner or something lame like that just to get him to leave me alone for a bit so I could rest.  It was nice to sit for awhile, but for the rest of the night I felt bad for making Koby go play by himself in the other room.

The next day at work I came across a quote online.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed
by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.
- Mark Twain
Although this quote seems to be more about taking chances, it still really made me think about the incident from the day before.  Even though I really felt like I needed time to relax, I will never be able to go back to that moment and play with Koby.  In the two and a half years Koby has been alive, and the two months Lincoln has been alive, I wonder how many of those moments I has passed up on just to "rest."  It seems like just yesterday I was at the hospital watching Koby been born, and before I know it, Koby and Lincoln will be grown up and won't want to play with me anymore.  I hope I don't let too many more of these moments pass me by.  It's the little moments that really matter right?  I can always rest later.

I love you Koby.  I love you Lincoln.  I hope that you will never be too old to play with me.

Moobs

At 2 months Linc is...

 Weight: 13 lbs...90th percentile
Height: 23.5 in...75th percentile
AND has the biggest baby moobs ever!

I am sure Lincoln will pass Koby up in size in the near future. It's crazy going from a 3rd percentile baby to a 90th. He's such a sturdy chunk. I love it! Although Koby is the one who likes to wear my bras, Lincoln is the one who actually needs them:)

A lesson from Dad

Sunday afternoon. Quiet church meeting. Loud Koby...

"I wanna pull your finger! I'm gonna pull your finger mom!"
Pulls my finger.
Lets out a loud sound with his mouth,"pffffffffffrrrt!"
"Haha! You fart!"

Brotherly Love

It may have started out rough, but Koby and Lincoln have begun to bond. Koby loves his little brother. He is always the first to run to him when he is crying during the day and he always insists on holding his hand.

Before Lincoln came, I thought it would be impossible to love another kid too. I was wrong! I am glad God made it possible for us to love so much:)

Lincoln has become very smiley and laughs alot! James can always get him crackin' up. He loves playing with his Daddy.

Did I metion he is a chunk? Check out these cheeks...

Aunt Emily taught Koby and Chloe a first swimming lesson this week. They did great! Koby is a fish. He would live in the water if he could. He pretty much takes 2 baths a day that last about 30 minutes each. He always negotiates with me, "How about 5 more minutes Mom. Kobs still playin'." AND the kid can go under water and hold his breath for 5 seconds!

"Surfin'" with Dad

Rach , Sean, and Charlie came to visit again! We did a little BBQ'n and a LOT of swimmin'! Lincoln is 2 1/2 months younger than his cousin Charlie, but just like a pound smaller. Crazy. We loved having the Quigley's here for another visit!

Check out little Charlie and big Lincoln

Recent Happenings

Lincoln is good at accepting his brother's love
Poor Lincoln gets a heat rash just about every time we venture outside here in Utah. The Summer sun is just too hot for his little body. We never went through this with Koby since he was born in January. Unlike last year when we went to the pool everyday, poor Koby gets to spend most of the summer inside or in the back yard. He never lasts long though by himself in the back yard. Atleast he is getting very good at finding things to do.

Since we are moving in just a few weeks, I have been trying to find things to get rid of. Today it was an old pair of tennis shoes. Shortly after I decided they belonged in the garbage, Koby pulled them out of the trash and put them on. "I'm all ready to exercise mom. Can you put on Jillian?" So while I was busy with Lincoln, Koby exercised all by himself for a good 15 minutes this morning. This kid cracks me up. It is funny how much kids mimic their parents. The other night Koby saw a bug and frantically screams at the top of his lungs...."James, There's a bug! James, James, There's a bug! There's a bug James! Can you kill it?!"

Lincoln has begun to smile and even laugh a little! It's so fun to watch his little personality come out(as much as it can for a 6 week old). He is so cute and so chunky! He is now a whopping 12 pounds-that's almost a pound a week gain.

Can I just say how excited we are to move?! The other day Koby came up to the window with something in his mouth. James and I ran outside and pulled a cigarette butt out of his mouth! I then found THREE more cigarette butts next to his sandbox! The girl upstairs has apparently disposed of some of her cigarettes next to our front door/Koby's sandbox! We are so blessed to be moving reeeal soon:) There's a ton of young families in our new neighborhood and I am really excited to have Koby meet some new friends! He is at that age where he just loves to play with other kids. When we go to the park he is always "making friends." Most of the time his "friends" don't like to give him the attention, but he just follows them around saying "come on...your turn..." just like they are best buds:) He always tries to catch other kids at the end of the slide. Frequently, I'll have to yell, "Koby don't touch other kids!"

Independence Day

What a good 4th of July we had! After our weekend consumption of camping food-s'mores, hotdogs, chips, pop, etc- James and I made a 4th of July resolution to be a little healthier and get more fit. After all I am still 12 pounds away from pre-pregnancy Megan and being able to wear my summer clothes. So after some family P90x we decided to do a family hike up to the "Y".

You know how just a few weeks after having a baby you forget how much of a pain the process is and somehow you want to do it again? (by the way I am not there and won't be for a few years)... Well it's like that for us with hiking the "Y". Each time we do it, soon after we forget how miserable it is. This time was no different. In fact, it was more miserable than ever before. I had Lincoln strapped to my front and James had the fun task of climbing the mountain with a wiggly 28 pound Koby on his shoulders. What a man:) It was, however, a fun family activity and we will probably do it again next month.

The newly weds, Shane and Emily, met up with us to watch fireworks at Thanksgiving Point. They brought a cooler with ice cream cones and we had plenty of Sparklers and Pop-its. It was so much fun. It was especially fun this year because Koby was old enough to really appreciate them. After each firework went off Koby let out a very loud exclamation..."woooooooo"......"oooooow"...."aaaaaaaah"...."fire is awesome" ..."That's cool man!" The only downfall to the night was when Koby decided to poke the end of his sparkler with his finger. He now has a blister to prove he learned that fire is indeed hot.

What loser decided graffiti would be cool on the Y?

More than we could chew...

We were supposed to go camping this weekend with our friends, the Tatoms, but their little baby got sick the day before:( So James and I decided why not just go with our little family...So Thursday night we packed up the Explorer and Friday we headed South to Sand Hollow Resort just outside of St. George for a family camping trip!

We arrived around 5 pm and by about 10:30pm we already realized we "bit off a little more than we could chew!" Camping with a 5 week old baby and a 2 1/2 year old is not as relaxing as we would have liked it to be. Who'd a thought?

In the first few hours of arrival Koby...
-stabbed me between the toes with a roasting stick
-dropped a flashlight on James' toes
-Followed James into the bathroom and kept flushing a clogged toilet over and over, causing the water to rise while James was trying to use it (haha...Too much Info I know)
-turned the shower on while we were brushing our teeth...the only way to turn it off was for both James and I to get our PJ's soaking wet in the process
-Picked up an old deodorant cap on the bathroom floor and began licking it

Wow. I keep trying to relay just how active this kid is to people. I think this trip shows a little of his craziness. If James and I survive raising Koby it will be a miracle!

I must also mention, in the first hour, James got our car stuck in the sand and caused a scare when he lost our keys for 5 minutes! A nice man in a jeep pulled us out:)

We are firm believers on kids sleeping in their own room and NEVER in your bed with you. Camping with kids sleeping next to you is not my idea of fun. James and I were both awake from 2:30 - 4 am with a kid each, trying to get them back to sleep. We made reservations to stay until Sunday, but by 4am Saturday morning we realized we just couldn't do another night. Haha. Jokes on the young parents.

Between the drunken neighbors and our crazy kid(s), James and I didn't get much sleep Friday night. And of course Sunday morning comes and I am sick! And poor little Lincoln lost his voice.

The lake, however, was gorgeous and 76 degrees!!James and Koby had a blast playing in it while Link and I tried to enjoy the warm shade. Although the trip was crazy we did have a ton of fun! We just won't be taking the kiddos camping again until they are both a little older. The drives down there and back were great. It was kinda like a date....James and I were able to just talk to each other while Lincoln and  Koby slept and watched movies!

And this is how Lincoln felt about the heat rash he got:(
This is how Lincoln and I spent most of Sunday
